NATIONAL WOMEN BUSINESS OWNERS: meet SHIRLEY MOORE WELLS (owner Sweeten Creek Coffee)

Shirley Moore Wells, is the owner of Sweeten Creek Coffee, LLC. Shirley comes from a long line of STRONG independent WOMEN. Her, Grandmother Marie Solheim, immigrated from Norway to America when she was 18 years old. Her Mother, Helen Pedersen Moore became one of the first Woman Business Owners in New York, when she purchased a Grocery Store/ Deli on Staten Island.
Shirley started working in her Mom’s Grocery Store/Deli at age 10. She reminisces that she was so small, that she had to stand on a milk crate to reach the “cash register”. When she realized that other employees got PAID more than she did, she asked for a “Raise”. Of course, her Mom said “NO” and it was not until Shirley boycotted her Mom’s Store, that she was raised to the same pay rate as other employees. From Mom’s Grocery Story all the way to Los Vegas as the ARCSI National Convention Chairman, Shirley Moore Wells has made her mark. We are fortunate to attract such business people to Asheville, who not only bring tremendous Business Vison but also bring a sense of community. Her newest Business, SWEETEN CREEK COFFEE, is her “VISION” of a Coffee Shop that mimics the TV Show “Cheers” ………remember the theme song???
“Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came…”
Sweeten Creek Coffee is where people meet in a spirit of friendship and harmony to exchange ideas, support local community, local farmers, bakers, and also support 3rd World Programs like “FRIEND TO FARMER” which helps raise people out of poverty by helping them develop “small plot coffee farms”.
Shirley Moore Wells, is a “BIG PERSONALITY”, and a Woman Business Owner who believes business should benefit the Community, benefit one another and benefit our planet.
